Thank you, Ben. I think it would be amazing too. But so far i haven't been lucky enough to catch a hatching.

I think that was awesome with the equipment you have! The music is very appropriate. The worms moving inside the egg case was amazing. It would be cool if you could catch them emerging from the egg case.

They're mites. They're part of a normal bin system. If they have a population explosion, your ben may be too wet, but there's no harm in them. They're part of the vermicomposting system. If there was a way to keep them out, your food wouldn't compost as quickly. They're about the size of the end of a pencil lead.

I see 'springtail' pop up now and then when reading on worming, and now I finally know how they look like!
Thanks for the info, Eve. :)

Kinda like Simcity, but without the fires and the UFO scenarios ;D
Seriously though, this was very educational and interesting... that bit with the worm egg was amazing! I have a lot of those mites living in my urn as well, but I've never seen any of those white tube guys scurrying about. Hmm...

It comes with little containers that i put a bit of compost into. You can also make slides but that would kill the specimens. I wanted to see them move about.

Thanks for sharing the specifics, Eve -- it's *really* helpful, and I'll find out whether Digital Blue makes a compatible USB scope for Apple machines. Did you have to hold the microscope over your bin or did you mount it somehow?
