Vermicomposting, worm bin, composting with worms community and forums
Checked on my worms today and noticed one of the two bins smells a little poopy.
Apparently I was in a hurry, or just lazy, when I prepped this bin so I didn't really shred the newspaper. Just added wet long strips of paper that apparently attracted each other in the bin and and now are big slimy clumps. The cardboard I added was bigger too, like 4-6" and they all stuck to each other also. And it's a bit slimy too.
So yesterday I aerated the bin quite a bit. Broke down to a smaller size the big clumps and moved them from the bottom of the bin (wetter) to the top in the hopes they will dry out and not be so slimy.
Yesterday I did NOT notice the poopy smell; however, I did add some basil leaves, lettuce stalks and a serrano pepper that I was too lazy to bury. So I'm hoping the smell is from that. It all got buried today so we'll see if that takes care of it.
Now if just the slime will go away.
