Rabbit and guinea pig manure vc for vegetables i will eat

I have 2 rabbits 3 guinea pigs and I'm thinking of vermicomposting their manure and using it as a soil medium for my vegetables... Is this ok? Will the vegetables be safe for consumption? If yes, what must I do before vermicomposting themanure? If no, why not? Thanks!

I think it is a fine idea to give your worms the animal poop you mentioned. They would go for it readily especially if it was fresh stuff. A thin layer of the animal poop would soon become worm poop, black gold for your vegetable plants.

Guinea pigs, Rabbits, and Horses make the best manure for vermicomposting. It's not just Ok to use it's great.  One of our members used to vermicompost her pet rats manure and still may be doing it.   They are all in basically the same wide family.  They have worm ready manure, (all the right microbes already in the manure).  Search the posts (type in 'rabbit' or 'horse') a year or two back there was a very long set of experiments and discussions about it.

I have used a lot of rabbit manure in my worm bins and garden. It's good stuff.
