Vermicomposting, worm bin, composting with worms community and forums
Whole pumpkin seeds added to the worm bins has attracted mice.
Maybe that's why the cat follows me to the bins all the time.

Comment by Sue on December 18, 2012 at 2:00pm Yes, especially now with colder months to come and they need food. My bins are vermin proof, even the VB. It's VP, lol
So you're saying your VB FT is VP? Nice.
My on-ground, compost ring worm bins are the main problem I suspect, but they may also be taking advantage of my large leaf bin that is also on the ground. The mice apparently crawled up the extension cord leading into the shed where I have my plastic barrel FT up on cement blocks. They have to jump 8 inches down on top of the FT to get to the pumpkin seeds in the bin, and I've seen one jump out of the bin so I know that's how they're getting in. Setting traps is catching them but I think I need to make a wire mesh top for the FT to keep them out.
I know that removing the food and bedding sources are the best defense against mice, and that they will move on to easier sources.
