Vermicomposting, worm bin, composting with worms community and forums

I am awaiting my worm's arrival. I have prepared shredded paper and gathered kitchen scraps. I have a container of baked and powdered egg shells. I am just about ready.

However, I look at my bin which is a 2x3 tank 18" deep and wonder if I want to drill holes in the bottom. I have heard that they are not actually necessary but so many people are doing it. For now I am going to bypass this step.

Hello Hollis,  The thing you are going to want to watch for is too much moisture.  The drain holes will help with that.  However, if you are careful about how much water ends up in the bin you should be ok.

I have found the bin to be rather dry. All is well.
