Vermicomposting, worm bin, composting with worms community and forums

I received my European Nightcrawlers today. Here's a a few pictures documenting the event.

The worms are in their new home but I've already had a couple of wannabe escapees.  I guess I'll be keeping the light on to prevent the wanders from wandering too far away from their new digs.

They are a lot quicker to run than the E. fetida's. I keep a light on my E. hortensis bed because they wander a little more in my parents basement than they would like. It is by far my favourite worm though!

A smear of salted vaseline around the rim of the bin will keep EH from wandering out.

I ordered them from Earthworms 4 Sale. They were shipped from Beulah, MI. I have had a light on them for 24 hours and not escapes so far. They are extremely active. My EF's were boring compared to these guys. They are constantly moving.

I'll be using coconut coir for bedding and lots of cardboard instead of the peat moss it seems like most people are using.

You got some healthy robust ones, good to see also where you got them from.
