Would appreciate any info on any company that sells organic peat moss in ton totes or the like. The only thing I have found so far is on the alibaba site. All of that is from other countries and I don't trust the moss to be certified organic from other countries except Canada.
I would like the moss for worm castings and also to help build a better soil on my organic farm. I am going to get it certified this year hopefully. I have had the farm almost 3 years…

Bear with me here, lengthy summary coming...!
First, I had the bins indoors and they processed garbage very efficiently and they multiplied rapidly, but I didn't realize that fruit flies and white flies, and vinegar flies would follow. Oh boy.
So about 8 months ago? I moved them onto my balcony outside (I just live in a 1 bedroom condo with no backyard to myself...sadly...). The flies have stopped, however I wanted to keep some inside because I felt the…

My worms are breeding up a storm. A few days ago I had a pretty wet bin, just barely on the dry side of an anaerobic bin. The worms were ok, but I noticed all the young immature worms were just under the surface of the bedding. A LOT of juveniles of various sizes. I then left the lid off for 24 hours then once I let the humidity of the bin get balanced again I found all the adults in the same place the juveniles were before. Just odd if you ask me. Many of the adults were in the process of…

I ordered 2 lbs of reds about 4 months ago and the population is exploding. I did a partial harvest on one of my bins and noticed a few REALLY big ones in there. I am thinking that maybe a few Euros might have been in the bunch that I received. Is there any easy noticeable distinction between two besides the size?

Hello to everybody!
I have some 15 kg buckets with holes at the bottom. Inside I put goat manure and I keep the moisture levels ok with tap water. My ef and ea looks fine.
Soon my E. fetidas will have eaten all the veggie scraps I added last time and I will want to screen out some castings (for the first time) I'm thinking of getting stuff to make a simple 1/4" wood framed screen that'll fit over a collection bin. Anyone have any better ideas on the cheap? I will probably do the dump and let the worms go down on the pile and collect the top method.

Oddly enough, my search for eisenia hortensis (a common worm in our country) took me to Bentley the compostman (RWC) and being a Canadian he tought me more than I could find on Belgian internet files so thanks Bentley, you're the best.
greets,
stefaan
