we did it for bait worms (commercial) when I was a kid and now am getting back into it for environmental reasons
What do your worms like to eat?
Pretty much anything and everything: horse poop, food waste, paper, ash, grass, leaves--if it was ever alive or came out of something alive, they'll chomp it and poop it
What kinds of worms do you have?
mostly EF, but there are other varieties in there as well since I get from a variety of sources
What worm bins do you use?
old dressers, windrows, basically anything that will hold the stuff
How many pounds of garbage do your worms recycle each week?
25-35 currently with increases all the time
About Me:
I'm always looking for more worms, so if your personal bin is getting crowded and you want to make sure your "extra" worms get a great home, please let me know!

Sandi,
I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. My wife is in the last stages of pregnancy and everything seems to be hitting us at once. I did want about a pound. No worries, though, I can wait. I actually am not in a position to take any right now. I just wanted to see what yo uwold charge for a pound of ENCs.
I saw in one of the discussions that you are selling worms. I live over in Aurora and am interested in getting some ENC's in the near future. How much do you charge per pound? Do you weigh just worms or worms+bedding? I would be really interested in buying from someone local. Drop me a line whenever you get a spare moment. Thanks.
Unfortunately, my digital camera broke awhile back and I have not had time to get a new one. Will soon though as friends are wanting pictures of my new dog, too! ; ) My bins are essentially anything that can hold dirt and withstand a little moisture. I literally have several dressers (received for free off Craig's List--more stuff NOT in a landfill) that I lined just the bottom of with plastic (these are cheap/thin wood dressers mostly) to make them last longer, then I treat them just like any other worm bin. The wormies don't seem to notice the difference one bit. I am just starting to experiment with fattening formulas and am doing that with limited worms inside plastic coffee cans (so I can have known ratios of bedding/worms/feed and not lose too many of my babies in case I get a recipe really really wrong!). The fattening formulas will be for fishing worms IF I can get a good recipe that is cost effective and fat-worm effective. ; )
I process a lot of waste due to MANY co-workers bringing me their food waste and yard waste plus I live next door to four horses. Soon as I can get MORE worms, I will start having church members bring me their green waste, then someday expand to the three local restaurants and maybe my whole town and others at my job! ; ) The supplies are endless as I live in the country (lots of horses and cows and goats and pigs) and work in the city (several restaurants and grocery stores and just folks who want to save the planet)!!
Sorry, I just get sooooo excited when talking about the composting and recycling that I can hardly stop sometimes. That and I also type very fast.....I'll hush now! ; )
Very interesting discussion / thoughts in the recycling discussion thanks for responding on that one and getting it going. I figured I would check out your vermicomposters.com profile and noticed you are processing quite a large amount of waste and have some interesting worm bins. Do you have any photos of your wormbins that you could post? I'd love to see some photos of your worm bins and i think lot of folks would find them interesting.

I'm looking to purchase some more worms. On the map I noticed that you're nearby and sell worms...
I'm looking for 500 or 1/2 Lb or so.
