1 jumper!

it's been raining the past week. i opened up to bin lid to put some basil in, and i found a stray worm that had jumped out of the bin and onto the floor!! i picked it up and put him back into the bin, which is just a touch on the moist side, so i left the lid a little askew.

so excited! that was fast!

also, recently got a few worms (10-30) from a bartering event. i have them stashed in an aerated jar, under the sink, which they seem to be very happy in. i'm…

nothing yet...

at one point, the weather cooled off. the sight of a couple of babies gave me some optimism. then, more heat came in and, i can only assume, killed those off too.

i went and checked in on it just now, and while there are a few critters in there, no worms. i added some undressed, spoiled salad. i'm wondering if they will ever come back. i don't see any cocoons in there, but it's been rainy and chilly and i didn't want to stay outside too long searching. i think i am going to…

how long does it take for the worms… Continue

mass death :(

after feeding them regularly, the population flourished as before. huge mounds of mating worms here and there. fat, long worms huddled up in huge bunches.

i started to notice that the moisture level was getting a bit too high, but they seemed happy and fine, so i didn't take immediate action. i planned on putting the holes in my old bin, but the thought of sitting outside in the summer heat didn't appeal to me, so i just waited...and apparently the summer heat didn't appeal to the… Continue

I understand. I'll leave the offer open, but I think your bin will recover pretty well on its own.
