I would say fat worms indicates that the conditions are favorable so they they are not stressed out and would be more likely to eat more and reproduce more.

I think worms love any kind of poop, that is their job. As long as you do not give your camel anti-worm medicine before, they should love it.

Susan is right. Not very many worms try to escape except when I open the lid to feed them. Plus I have two cats and anything resembling wiggling yarn does not have much chance getting to the top of the bed.

Michael, after the first week or so, the worms settle in and only try to escape if there's a problem (heat or anaerobic conditions usually.) After a while, you get good at avoiding those. If you've got escapees after the first week or two, there's a…

Asking for worms for my birthday

It is my birthday today and my 4 year old daughter came up to me and asked what I wanted for my birthday. I told her I wanted 5 pounds of worms. She said that was not really a present. I thought she would say they are gross but she then asked how would she wrap them. She later came back with a roley poley and said she could not find any worms but asked if I would like the roley poley.

UFW- I was wondering what you were doing to winterize your lattice flow-thru worm bins. My worms are in the garage, so temps here in NC will not be a problem.

Thanks, I've improved my worm salad recipe since that photo was taken. It now gets mixed with peat moss (I would prefer to use coir) seasoned with ground eggshells, a sprinkle of sand, and tossed with hand shredded cardboard.
