Hi Melody! Congrats on starting in the worm "biz"... :-) I started my bin last December and have two bins going now... no idea how many worms are in there, but it's a LOT more than what I started with. I've only harvested one complete bin's worth ...

I agree with Mark, use it! I fill up old feed bags at the barn where our horses are boarded and let it sit for a while to dry out. When it's really dry, I put on some gloves and just go through and crumble up the "pellets" into smaller bits. This ...

Thanks Susan. It really is great. After checking the 3rd "harvest tray", it seems like the worms are pretty much out of the first bin, so I am turning that over and letting it start to dry out some. I will definitely let it sit for a while to get ...

Beth, I've got plastic bins... sort of like the Rubbermaid bins, but some other brand... had the foldable tops. Just one bin seems to have the ants, the other bin is several feet away with no ants. Any suggestions on how to make 'em disappear? The...

Are ants bad? I moved some of my worms into bin #2 yesterday and this morning I found a bunch of tiny ants running all over the inside of the bin. There were also several (8 or so) worms crawling up the side of the bin (inside)... do the ants make...

Venus, congrats on starting your worm bin. I'm relatively new too, so someone with more knowledge will probably come along and answer your questions more completely. :-) How many worms did you start with? What size is your bin? What are you using...

Worms worms everywhere...

Ok, so they are QUITE everywhere yet, but they are definitely multiplying like crazy. I got introduced to vermiculture late last year through a newspaper article and started looking into it. My wife will attest to the fact that when a new "interest" pops into my head I tend to go obsessive learning all I can about it.

I put together a bin in December using shredded paper and horse manure and ordered 2,000 worms. The worms (red wigglers) arrived and got dumped into the bin in late December and i… Continue
