About Me:
looking to get into composting, and need more information. I am also looking at aquaponics. I would like to have the composting up and running before I put a fish in the water. Looking for a good fish food. I like to study before I leap. This sounds like fun.

Starting from Scratch

I have lumber, and windows.  and a place to build a greenhouse.  It may be a little nonconventional, but I want it to look good in my yard.  this will take me a while, since I work full time, but I'm going to try to get started soon.  I need to build some raised beds as well.  This is my summer project.  I want to get worms composting, an aquaponics system up and running, and get my raised beds planted in the next couple of months.  Texas has the greatest growing season, I'm already…

I have been helping a neighbor clean up his lot, and have lots of lumber.  I will be starting to build a greenhouse soon.  I plan to build it with 2x4s and put lots of windows in.  He had a stack of windows.  I figure if I install the metal windows upside down, I can let the heat out during our hot summer, and close them during the colder months to keep the heat up.  I'm in central Texas, and have a lot of work to do just to get the floor in.  I plan to take lots of photos and share everything.... You may get tired of me rattling on... lol.

welcome Lana, i built my greenhouse out of scrap patio slider glass and 2x4's.  it was an orchid house then it became a aquaponic/vermiponic house with a 1000gal goldfish vat. this past fall i covered it in rigid foam insulation and plastic tarps to black out most light and now with wire racks it houses about 80 trays of worms. . i still have an outdoor 600 gal goldfish vat with grow beds and worm buckets.

good luck with you projects
