Help! We've got fungus gnats!

I did put my lid back on just to avoid having some left over gnats fly out (or back in!) the bin. The other thing I did was open it up everyday for a couple of days to let any stragglers out. Worked…

Help! We've got fungus gnats!

As it turns out it was an excellent tip. Just the t-shirt has stopped the current population from expanding and the few stragglers should be gone soon. Awesome results and in so very few days. Thanks…

Help! We've got fungus gnats!

Thanks for the tip Beth! I've just put an old t-shirt (cut it up though, so it wouldn't be too heavy if/when it gets moist) on the surface of my bin. Hopefully this will keep them down. The gnats are…

Gnat Flies

I have the same thing. My bin isn't noticeably wet, but it was in my mom's garage (who likes to work in the yard = lots of plant storage going on). Now that I brought out to my dorm where the inside…

I have the same thing. My bin isn't noticeably dry, but it was in my mom's garage (who likes to work in the yard = lots of plant storage going on). Now that I brought it inside where it is a more comfortable 22C (garage was 12C) *boom* gnat and frui…

If you haven't already you should check out David Attenborough's new BBC series Life. The adaptations species have made to exploit certain niches always amazes me. And the excellent filming only improves on the series.

That is some weird stuff! Seems it lives (comes to grow?) in spots with favourable conditions, which looks like it might not even be your whole bin: When the food supply wanes, the plasmodium will migrate to the surface of its substrate and transfo…

I've been going to school for a few weeks now since the summer holidays, so I only get to see them every other weekend (oh the agony). They don't seem to care and continue to do well. Wish I could take them to my dorm, but there is just no room. May…

My worm lingo must be off, I can't for the life of me think of what you guys mean with adding OM. Glad to hear you've had success with a small light Selene. I'll have to remember that if I have to bring mine in this winter.

I'm glad that it worked out. I'd like to use your comments in a blog post with your permission and perhaps in our testimonials on our website. Please let me know if this is ok. If it isn't...no problem. You can view our website at www.MonsterWorms.com
Thanks,
