"Add another tray with some bedding to cover new food, but stick to the same rules- stop feeding if the worms don't seem to be eating. If, while you're fluffing, you find some cocoons in the lower tray, there's no harm in putting them…"

"Great Pictures! When you feel most worms have left the tray for greener pastures... After removing the harvestable worms, if there are baby worms or eggs I would move the bedding to a container to let them grow and hatch. I would let excess food…"

Today I uploaded some pictures from the first tray of the worm factory. I am not sure if I should add another tray with more food or just let them munch on whats left in the tray. Any suggestions? Before mixed and fluffed the bedding. After mixing and fluffing.See More

Update on the worm bins

Late last night I checked on both of my worm bins. The older bin is do great! The worms are fat and happy and saw some stuff in the bedding/vermicompost that looks like eggs!As for my newer bin, the worms are happier. The temperatures have dropped about 5 degrees and the worms are now running from the light when I open the bin now. I haven't feed them in several weeks since the been is so full that I can not add more bedding and close it propperly. I am not sure if I should go ahead and add the…See More

Checked my worms and they are doing so well

I checked on my worm today and I could not find any of my worms! I started digging through the Worm Factory and I found only several of them. I dug down and I found some toward the bottom. I then pulled the bottom out and found at least 50 - 100 sitting in the liquid waste catch basin. I tried to empty it but it was mostly a mud like substance w/ a mixture of bedding and vermicompost. most of the worms were not moving even when I pick up a few put them under the light. My guess is they drowned…See More

Element replied to Woo's discussion I would like to know what other people find to be the worms most popular and distasteful food.
"My worms do not seem to be picky. But I do know they love sweets, such as watermelon, pears, apples and grapes. Generally I keep 2 large 3 LB Whey Protein Powder shake plastic jars. Every Saturday I empty any left overs from the fridge and pantry…"

Its a good day...

Its a good day for the worms. Just a few minutes ago, I checked on my worms and the issues with the worms trying to ecape or just laying around getting skinny, was because of the heat. Right now its about 80 degrees outside and the worm been is a little cooler than that and they are swarming over some old newspaper and ready for more food!. They ate over a 1 lb and half of food wastes in 5 days!

Had some extra time today

Over the last couple of days I have been to busy and to tired to feed and clean up my worm bins. Today I cut some more bedding and took all of the out of date or going out of date fruit and vegetables and stuck them in the blender and then added some bread and coffee ground to suck up some of the liquids. After getting everything prepped I fluffed up some of the old bedding and checked the state of the worms. I then added the food and more bedding. It looks like my worms are getting happier they…See More
