Hi Bart,
I probably view the term "problem" with a slightly perspective than some at times - and weed seeds is definitely one of those times. In all honesty, I am really mellow and laid back about this sort of thing. I constantly have little plant...
Hey Bart,
I certainly HOPE it won't get that hot! There are a lot of worms in that bed.
This is why I am adding materials slowly over time. By the time it is at its max height the serious winter weather will be here. My aim is to keep it as close ...
Hi Bart,
How big is this system? I live in a climate that is quite similar to yours (likely even colder though - and once the serious winter hits it lasts for 2-3 months).
Volume and insulation are both very important considerations. Last year I ...
Wow Gaia - I am totally floored! What you are doing here is awesome.
One of the things I LOVE about the web is that it has made transparency in the 'worm biz' a lot more important. Some of these characters still seem to get away with selling reall...
How many pounds of garbage do your worms recycle each week?
previously 5 lbs or so - then 100's of lbs from local restaurant - now back to mere mortal status (likely 5-10 lbs). I use a lot of aged manure as well

Hi, Bentley:
I hope I didn't scare you off with that wicked long response to your post. I'm really looking forward to hearing if you have any other comments and/or recommendations!
hey do you or anyone on here know of the best way to grow lots of your own worms to sell instead of buying them from other places? Anyone know of any Good worm incubator kits?
Hey Bentley, Love your site. I tried to comment here but got a spam block message. http://www.redwormcomposting.com/gardening/gardening-with-red-worms-additional-thoughts/
Anyway, this is my comment:
So it seems from what I have read that wet enough for worms is too wet for the garden. And there is really no way to reconcile the two. I wanted to go with raised beds and EFs because in North Carolina I felt the worms would survive the mild winters. I will still use the vermicompost in the garden, but keep the worms inside.
please don't laugh, but is there any way to make a compose bin and work on it with out toching the worm ?
i just don't like them or the way they look, sorry worm lovers
