MY WORMS ALSO LIKE ONIONS AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING THAT I'VE READ NOT TO FEED THEM.I JUST HAVE THE HUNGRY VARIETY!!!

My worms LOVE the onion scraps that I put in! They have a tough time with the skins, tho. I think it takes the microbes a lot longer to start breaking that part down in order to let the worms munch on it. But the worms still love to hang out in the skins. I've found a few all cute and curled up in there. :)

I've read many times how they don't like onions, spicy food or citrus. Mine like both spicy food and onions (and garlic!), but do not like more than a couple citrus wedges or peelings in their bins. I take the citrus to the regular/hot compost pile and the rest go right in the bins.....Though I am not sure and just speculating: I think I remember reading that the onion issue is with odors released at decomp??? If you have time, maybe you could watch the onion over time to see if they lose interest once it starts decomping (removing it and freezing it and putting it back will speed this process)??? It would be nice to know as I think a LOT of what is written about the worms is really personal observations that were published and now have mythical status rather than actual experimentation. Plus, my worms seem to not like coffee some days and swarm it others...Maybe they're like us a bit, you know: coffee again?!?!?! Dang I had that for lunch! I want something new! tee hee!
