Simple Feeding Log
I was debating whether to upload this or not, but I figured hey we're all vermicomposters here after all right? This is a little log I keep whenever I feed my worm bin so I can remember when, what and how much I fed them. I try to avoid "going overboard" with managing the worms... i generally prefer low-maintenance, but this seemed useful and only takes a second after each feeding. I'm curious, does anyone else do something like this? (or am i a little nuts?)

Hi there Steven. Well I think that it's a great idea to keep track of what you feed your worms. Firstly you can keep track of how often you feed them and how that works. Secondly you can keep track of what you feed them and so work out what they like. If something ever goes wrong, then you have the data to go back to to see where you went wrong. I'm very new to this, but keeping a log book on the feedings seems like a great idea. So thanks for posting this.
I read up somewhere that you should only feed your worms like once or twice a week. It obviously depends on how much food they have from previous feedings. It also depends from person to person. I suppose the best is to keep an eye on them and adapt your feedings accordingly.

- I'm new to vermicomposting myself (hehe my first feeding ever is actually in the photo 3/3/08)... so take how often I'm feeding with a grain of salt. I'm trying to scale figure out my schedule and make it a bit more regular... like once or twice a week just to make it easier to remember.

Comment by Amy on June 2, 2008 at 7:34pm - Thanks for sharing your log! Now I know that checking on the worms every other day is too frequent. 3+ days looks like the magic period of rest between feedings. I'll keep that in mind and stay away from the Wriggly Wranch until tomorrow. ;)
