It will be interesting to find how it broke down even more after the snow that is going to cover it melts. I still doing at least 3 of the square foot gardens. I want 6. Do a Butterfly garden in one of them to attrack well Butterflys and bugs that are good for the garden. I had thought about buying lady bugs on line but others have said you don't really know how they are harvested. I also want plants that I can bring inside during the winter months.

It looks like Mel's mix is what i make for my Earth Boxes, its the same recipe. I do have a problem getting the ingredients. The peat moss and compost i can get year round. it's the other two that is very seasonal. As in they show up in the stores after i plant. So i have to store it all winter.
My soil is gravel so keeping things moist enough is a challenge. I am planning to make some square foot gardens with a false bottom to incorporate the Earth Box watering system into square foot beds next spring. This watering system has worked best for me here.

Mel Bartholomew, now there is a guy who thought out side the box. Then turned around and used that box. He wanted to try something diffrent.

Rock messaged me that I misspoke in my recent comments. I apologize. I said perlite and I meant pumice. The WF360 added pumice to their products sometime earlier this year. My 2nd WF360 came with instructions that say, "Pumice is mined from Oregon and is a great bedding additive to your Worm Facotry. It adds additional air space, prevents matting, and helps to control moisture. Pumice is used extensively in commercial growing operations; its function in moderating drainage and air flow makes it valuable in your Worm Factory and garden." In my picture, the white rock is pumice.

I never did add the Pumice to the WF360. I might use it for the 5 gallon stackable bucket ideal I saw on utube. My RM bin is doing ok so far. The worms are eating anything I put in there. They are also doing well in the WF360. Im feeding a section at a time and sprinkling worm chow ontop of the food then putting the newspaper and dry bedding on top. So Far So Good.

My WF 360 was to dry had to spray with water and ariate it. Same with the RM bin. Feed the today about a pound each of blended food. Sprinkled some worm chow over the food. They seem to love it. In about 4 or 5 days will check on them again.Feed a section then leave the for a week so they can work on the bedding.
