Hi everybody.  How are your WF doing.  Have many of you found worms in the bottom part of your WF.  I find at least 2 every couple of days.  Rock said they were exploring.  I just scoop them back into the tray.  I think in about 2 to 3 weeks I will add my 2nd tray.

I hadn't looked at the bottom tray for a few months, and I found many dead worms in the castings (probably more than 100 - not sure what went wrong). Too bad... but a bit of meat added to the worm tea is probably not so bad?

The liquid collection which still had no liquid.  I feed them today and sparayed some water over the tray.  I might take an update video tomorrow.  Maybe you all can see If it is ready for the next tray soon.  :-)  Thanks for commenting Vermi Poster.

Some one said that they drilled some extra holes in the sides of there WF.  Any of you do this?

On my side I get no liquid unless I water the farm. So basically I make my on-demand worm tea!

I have not had any liquid in the tray either.

The only thing I have been feeding my worms in the past couple months is pre-digested food, ie fruit and veggie peels and remains that I have first put on my compost pile to decompose for one or two weeks. It seems that it is what they like best, and I find that it does not attract as many bugs. I can also add as much quantity as I would like at once (I fill up one FULL tray) without any side effect. I love that way of managing my Worm Factory!

Ok today I added my 2nd tray.  I skimed the top layer of the 1st tray along with some food.  Placed this in the bottom of the 2nd tray along with some as Vermi Poster says pre-digested food.  then covered with some rotting leaves and the bedding that had covered the 1st tray.  The second tray was coved with shredded cardboard, newspaper, telephone book pages and egg carton piecse.  The 2nd tray sat nicely on the 1st try so the worms should have no trouble MOVIN ON UP  to a deluxe...............

Whenever I put a tray of pre-digested food scraps on top of my factory the worms invariably take the elevator, and it allows me to use the castings/composted matter of the bottom tray. Looks like I found my working recipe!
