What type of tea do you all throw in to your worms, and what do you find they like the best?

Non-composting polyester in teabags? 5 Replies

We find a thin layer of "ghost" teabag stays behind in the compost, apparently used to heat seal the bags. Only a few brands don't have this. Yet another source of pollution building up in the soil!

I don't remember it in my baby bottle, but my Virginia parents sure poured it for us by the gallon later on! (While they made mint juleps.)

This past weekend I added all my UTB to some fruit and shredded drink tray cardboard! It all got added to a Worm Inn with Euros, and I can once again hear the 'rice krispies' sound!

I filled a 3 gallon bucket full of fruit and vegie waste from work, put it into a large strainer then poured water from a stock pot full of cooked carrots over it, minus the carrots of corse.  Collected a pound of UCG for a neighboor and another pound of UTL for my worms.

Hey Lee, My Worm Inn is almost full of VC.  It was almost half full until I added the worms you sent me.  Thank you again.

Garry don't you just love your Worm Inn.  The only draw back I have is once its even half full its a B*%CH to move. :-)

Haha, I do love it. The breathability of the unit helps the worms just POWER through food, and mine has never gone anaerobic. If anything, the worms came with a bit of a sour smell, and after living in the Worm Inn, that smell is gone!

Im amazed at how fast they work thru food and bedding.  I have only had my WI a little over 3 months and it is almost full.

They do eat fast, especially with a system that's in good balance, especially with enough aeration!

I think it is SO awesome though, that even junk artificial materials are broken down by using worms. Woot woot, go worms! lol
