I am coastal so usually not extreme heat but my worms did survive 110 degrees outside in a worm factory. That heat only lasted a couple of days.  I have multiple trays and the inner trays stay cooler.  Keep in the shade.  Some folks use frozen water bottles on extreme heat days.
