Hello, I lead vermicomposting workshops in the central valley (at CSUF), we have had a bad experience with our worm suppliers. So I am looking for someone else to buy worms from in CA. will need about 5-10 lbs. email me with your price per pound and shipping cost to the 93703 zip code. ravenc83@gmail.com

Thanks Beth & Dave,
I think I really do need to start another bin or harvest some of what I have. I want to try a stackable bin next to see the difference.

Jessica,
We live nearby in Antioch. Feel free to stop by and see our operation or check out our website. We have some useful info on it.

Renee,
Definitely start another bin. You could use some of the worms from your first bin. If you end up with more vermicompost than you can use, there are a lot of community gardens around or friends and neighbors that would love to have it.

Hello! I'm actually in Modesto, CA. I don't have any bins yet, but plan to make a couple Rubbermaid ones.

I'm in the Sacramento area and have a rubbermade worm bin outside that I started in June. The worms seem to be happy! I wonder if I need another bin? I could add food scraps at least everyweek or more but don't for fear of overfeeding. Enjoying the whole process so far.

Hi Melody,
Good luck with your worm bin. We live in Antioch and run a worm business out of our garage. If you ever want to stop by or if you have any questions just send us a message.

Hi! I am in Sacramento, and just started my first bin yesterday - I think it is a 14-gal storage bin, and I added 1/2 pound of worms. I am hoping to learn from all of you!

hey all-

I have been having good luck with the two kohler bath tubs. approx 4lbs in each...but i think i am going to change to largest plastic totes. I think they totes are a little better because of the extra drainage holes across the bottom, and around the top for air flow. In the bath tub it requires me turning them much more often.

Ill try to update my pictures and the conditions of the worm farm.

how many worms do you have, and how do you personally tell when they are ready to harvest? I know if you want the castings more pure, you will lose more worms, but if you are harvesting for maximum worm count, the castings will not be as pure.

what have you all learned from your experiences? any tricks or advice you can share with me?

Beth & Dave,
Thanks for the update. Please let me know if you notice anything different with that combination. I'd like to try that when the weather gets a little cooler here.
