Vermicomposting, worm bin, composting with worms community and forums

There's been a steady influx of new members here recently and I thought I would highlight a section of this website that some may not know about:
http://wiki.vermicomposters.com/wormbin/Glossary

It's a work in progress and has not been updated for some time, so I'm soliciting entries or ideas. The non-italicized text below is what is already entered in the Glossary. The italicized text are the suggested new entries. Suggestions for clearer definitions gladly accepted. Requests for definitions also welcome.

Aerobic: The desired form of decomposition in which oxygen is present Anaerobic: The undesirable process of decay that occurs then insufficient oxygen is present which usually generates a foul smell in your worm bin.
ANC
aka EE: African nightcrawler (Eudrilus eugeniae)
AVCT
: Aerated Vermicompost Tea

BSF: Black Soldier Fly
BSFL
: Black Soldier Fly Larvae
Bedding:
Moist material in which composting worms inhabit

CB
: cardboard (used for bedding)

Castings, VC:
Worm poop - vermicast
EE aka ANC: Eudrilus eugeniae (African nightcrawler)
EF: Eisenia fetida*/Eisenia andreii - red worms, red wrigglers. Most commonly used worm for vermicomposting in the US. Tolerant of large changes in temperature and pH.
EH aka ENC: Eisenia hortensis (European nightcrawler)

FT: Flow Through bin (usually refers to continuous flow through bins)
Hardware cloth: metal screen that is first welded then dipped in various screen sizes. 1/8 and 1/4 inch being most popular.
Harvesting: separating worms or VC from the organic matter. (see Onion bag & turbo light method)
Leachate: The liquid in the drain bin, vegetable matter is 85-90% water, pour into the garden but not directly on plants. Many people incorrectly refer to this as worm tea.
Leachate: Liquid leaching out from a worm bin. Not to be confused with worm tea.
OM: Organic Matter
Onion bag method: Method of using an onion bag type material to separate worms from vermicompost.
PE: Perionxy Excavatus. Indian (or Malaysian) Blue Worms. Smaller than EF and not suitable for fishing bait. Reproduce rapidly and consume OM rapidly. These worms don't tolerate cold temperatures but work well in the southern parts of the US and in tropical regions.
Pot Worm: Tiny white worms that may inhabit extra moist and slightly acidic worm bins. Also called White Worms.
RM: Rubbermaid tote (a DIY stackable bin)

Stackable Bin: not a true flow-through system

Turbo-light method: using a bright light source except for red to separate worms from vermicompost
UCG: Used Coffee Grounds

VCT: Vermicompost Tea or Worm tea, a liquid with a very high concentration of beneficial microbes made from steeping vermicompost in water with air bubbling through it for a day or two.
VC: Vermicompost
Vermicompost: What's usually harvested from a bin. Includes vermicast (pure worm poop) plus small bits of organic matter. These are often bits of bedding that clumped together and didn't get completely processed. To get vermicast, businesses strain the vermicompost and/or let the worms process it twice.
Vermiponics: A somewhat automated cyclic system in which plants grow in a particle-based medium, such as gravel or clay pellets, flooded with water enriched with nutritrients from the process of vermicomposting.
WC: worm castings

Hey this seems like a fun and useful Job. I've added three terms already and will continue when I have free moments. I'm gonna keep a running list of terms and may just add in the terms themselves before I have a definition if that's okay.

Excellent! We need all the wiki writers we can get. Definitely add terms even if you don't have a good definition. Someone here will provide that.
WC - worm castings
RM- rubber maid tote
Tea-worm or vermicompost tea
CB-cardboard
Stackable-not a true flowthrough system
harvesting-separating worms or vc from the organic matter
Onion bag method-Method of using an onion bag type material to separate worms from vc

Thanks, Larry. I knew I could count on you for a few. I've also added all the current contents of the Wiki Glossary to this post. The stuff not yet incorporated into the wiki is in italics.
Can you somehow incorporate tea as a slang though?AVCT in school stands for americanism versus communism test!
Do you guys know how to use the Wiki's features? Particularly there's a "discussion" tab for each Wiki page that exists. And in that area anyone signed up to edit the Wiki can chat pertaining the particular page, in this case the Glossary. Kinda handy and then we can keep this out of the forums >:|
I find that most of the time there isn't enough traffic in the wiki to hold discussions. I myself only go there a few times a year. So if i posted in the discussions tab it could be weeks before another wike member comes along to read it.

One thing i think the wiki needs is clearer directions on how to post. With my one contribution i needed Andrews help to get the article posted properly. You know directions for old folks who don't understand the jargon.
Good point Eve.I've been trying to figure it out for three months and can't.That's why i never joined.Seems real complicated.Especially when you think wiki is something they make furniture out of.
Andrew, when we post comments on aconyms and such, and you use or don't use the info. because it has already been used.Should we clear our comment from the board or leave it.You're gonna be one busy person if you miss a day or two!
Larry, I'm not sure. What do you think? I use an RSS feeder to keep up with the posts, so it's not a problem for me to sort through what's new. Usually it's good to leave everything in place, but it's possible for discussions to get long and difficult to sort through. Again, not an issue for me, but it may be for others. Do what you think is best. I'm not sure how much time you have to delete a post. I thought it was only 15 min....or is that to edit?
As long as you're all right with it.Leave them! I'm just not sure if we need to join the wiki to see what has already been used.Do we just use the link once a day to check or what?
You don't have to join anything to access the wiki. You have to sign up if you want to actually edit anything in the wiki. At this point I'm only going to update this discussion (the top post). I'll incorporate it into the wiki once all the additions, revisions & corrections are made.
