Vermicomposting, worm bin, composting with worms community and forums

I got a copy of the latest redwormcomposting.com newsletter today from out favourite worm blogger Bentley, a member here and a valuable resource to many of us. (I've never spoken to him personally but I know his site was a huge help when I was starting my bin and I continue to check it several times a week, always enjoying his updates and general enthusiasm. I'm sure that I am one of many that have silently appreciated him and his work, so on behalf of us all thank you Bentley.) He gave this site a mention and I couldn't agree with it more.

He said he is "blown away by how quickly it has grown and developed into a first rate vermicomposting site - without a doubt, one of the best online." and he's right. I try to visit as many VC sites and forums as I can and this one has shot up to the #1 spot for me very quickly by virtue of its friendliness, activity and features.

So keep up the good work, folks.

Let me just say when my son said "Dad I want to due a science fair project but we have to use worms." I had no idea what to due. We stumbled arcoss Redwormcomposting.com My boy saw the squash video and said "that's what I want to do" I said WHAT! So I emailed Bentley thru the contact page ( You know that the sites NEVER NEVER send back a reply) Boy was I shocked and very pleased. Not only did I get a reply but it was written by a person ( Bentley himself) And I have been bothering him ever since and He STILL take time to help. THANK YOU THANK YOU. When we get the grade back I have to send it To Bentley. And my son is still shocked that so many ADULTS want to play with worm and then write about it on line where anyone can read it. But He loves it cause it make growing up look a little better
Thanks to everyone on this site for all the help you've got us hooked on worms.

Wow, Scott - thanks for the kind words. I really love helping people with this stuff as much as I can, but I also DO have a soft-spot for kids. When I was a kid myself, my dad introduced me to the wonders of the natural world and I haven't looked back since. I think in this day and age with so many technological distractions etc, it is increasingly important to get kids excited about this sort of stuff so we don't lose that connection. Anyway, don't want to sound too sappy (lol) so I'll leave it at that.
One other thing though - I SWEAR Scott is just as excited (if not more so) about this vermicomposting project than his son, so it's definitely been fun lending a hand. :-)

I go to Bentley's site every day. I would have to say best resource I can find. I have bought worms from Bentley and my squirm has grown 5 fold. Vermicomposting was suppose to be a passive hobby of mine and now I have so many worm projects going, my spare time is gone.
Last night I was doing some research on castings and other worm topics, most of the searches started with Bentley's site.
